Minister Grigorescu: the energy sector, the key zone of interest for anti-corruption fight
The ministry of energy is part of the project of the new National Anti-corruption Strategy (SNA) 2016 – 2020 as an institution responsible for the implementation of the objective ‘ The growth of integrity, the reduction of vulnerability and the risks of corruption in the business environment’ a press release of the institution shows.
The ministry of energy will take part in this project together with the ministry of economy, commerce and business environment relations, the ministry of public finances, the ministry of transport and the ministry of justice.
The ministry of energy and the other responsible institutions, under the coordination of the ministry of economy have as target to reach this objective of growing the integrity, the reduction of vulnerability and the risks of corruption in the business environment in 2017.
‘The identification of the energy sector as a key-zone of interest for the anti-corruption fight is a clear sign that we expect from the companies in the domain to follow the highest standards in the domain. Some already do it, the others we will assist. This is the main role of our work. It goes without saying: those who did not understand this necessity have no place in the energy system’ the minister of energy, Victor Grigorescu said.
‘In issues connected to anti-corruption it is necessary more prevention if we want to have significant results in a short while. What the minister of energy decided is to place themselves at the disposal of the team which coordinates the Anti-corruption national strategy and cooperate in this project so that we have part of a mechanism which can act preventively. The good intentions are important, but we need to participate and get involved without any reserves, as we cannot have a profound change relying on punitive measures only’ Dan Ionescu, personal adviser of the minister of energy said, the one who represented the ministry of energy in the discussions with the team from the ministry of justice.
