Iohannis - Merkel brief discussion at start of informal European Council meeting

 President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday had a brief discussion with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the beginning of the informal European Council meeting in Brussels.

This is the first time when Iohannis participates in a meeting of the EU heads of state or government.

The President of Romania will also attend the separate working dinner for the EU heads of state or government.

On the sidelines of the EU summit, President Iohannis will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko, official sources inform.

At the end of the European Council meeting, the Romanian President will hold a press briefing at the European Council.
