În Cernauti, ForMin Melescanu announces reopening this year of two border checkpoints with Ukraine
Romania's Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu announced on Thursday at the end of a meeting in Cernauti with his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin that two border checkpoints will be reopened this year between Romania and Ukraine.
Melescanu told a press conference that the Vicovu de Sus - Suceava County and Racovat - Botosani County border checkpoints with Ukraine will become operational this year.
"I discussed with Mr. Klimkin and [Ukraine's] Finance Ministry will pinpoint in the neighbouring country's budget for 2018 the necessary amounts for opening two border checkpoints. From the standpoint of the Romanian side the facilities are completely ready to be opened and we are just waiting for our counterparts to complete procedures this year," Melescanu said.
The two ministers also discussed the possibility to open new pedestrian crossing points on the Romania - Ukraine border.
