National average net wage up 8.4 pct in December 2016 to rd EUR 523
The national average gross wage grew by 8.4 pct in December 2016 against the previous month to 3,257 lei (rd EUR 724), while the national average net wage reached 2,354 lei (EUR 523), also 8.4 pct higher; the best earnings were collected by the workers in the manufacturing of coke and crude oil products, while the workers in the hotels and restaurants industry were at the opposite end with the smallest earnings, shows data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS)
In December 2016, as compared to December 2015, the national average net wage grew by 11.4 pct. The real wage index against the same period of 2015 was 112.0 pct.
The real wage index was 108.1 pct for December 2016 against November 2016. As compared to October 1990, the real wage index was 178.5 pct, by 13.4 percentage points higher that the one recorded in November 2016.
The budget sector registered increases of the average net wage against the previous month in the health care and social care sector (+20.2 pct), and in the public administration, respectively (+4.5 pct), following the enforcement of the legal provisions for the staff paid from public funds. In education, the average net wage dropped 4.9 pct as a result of the winter holiday and the slashing of the sums representing the educational staff's hourly pay.
