Romania becomes first EU member fulfilling EC criteria on state aid

The European Commission formally notified Romania about lifting condition G5 referring to the existence of a legislative frame for the effective application of EU norms about state aid in the field of structural funds and European funds, according to MFE.

Romania becomes the first EU member state which fulfils conditions about state aid, thus avoiding a possible payment suspension. Brussels authorities declare the action plan established by Romanian authorities with EC officials was fulfilled.

Conditions were negotiated by every EC member state and represents measures preparing institutions for a better use of European funds.

The deadline until Romania must fulfil all conditions was December 31, 2016.

The delay in carrying out conditions can lead to the full or partial suspension of payments for Optional Programs which are mentioned by the conditions. Romania negotiated 36 conditions accepted by the government in 2014.
