The conference of the Strategic Military Partner organized by ACT of NATO will be hosted by Romania, 19-21 October

The conference of the Strategic Military Partner organized by the Allied Command Transformation (ACT) of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will be hosted by Romania in the period 19-21 October. 

According to a release of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent on Tuesday approximately 70 member states and NATO partners, as well as other countries will be represented at the event. Columbia and Nigeria will attend for the first time the consultations in this format. 

The main topic of the discussions will be the prospects of extending the partnerships with the Alliance. 

During the discussions, the concepts resulted following the NATO Summit in Warsaw will be thoroughly debated. 

The creation and maintenance of strong bonds with countries outside NATO is paramount for the Alliance, according to the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Denis Mercier, that is why ensuring some durable partnerships will be always of great strategic importance, the release of the MApN reveals. 

The Strategic Military Partner conference gathers annually and is the main military forum of the Alliance in order to debate the future challenges and transformations for NATO and its partners. This conference allows the Defence General Staffs Chiefs of the Alliance member states and the ones that are partners to discuss the problems on a strategic level, which helps the development of partnerships.
