Romanian banks profit attracts new operators on the market

The Bank of Cyprus wishes to continue its growing plans by extending its activity on new markets such as Romania and Russia as well as Cyprus and Greece. The bank rejected the proposal presented by Marfin Popular Bank who wished to present a public bid of take over to the Bank of Cyprus shareholders.The Bank of Cyprus obtained in December 2006 the operating licence on the Romanian market from BNR, with the intention to start its operations in March.
