Maior: Corruption persists as a serious phenomenon
SRI director George Maior, declared on Thursday that corruption persists in Romania as a serious phenomenon against the society and state, but he does not agree with the affirmation that Romania is a “corrupt state”.
Asked whether he agreed with the affirmation “Romania is a corrupt state” Maior answered: “I cannot agree with this statement. Romania has made great progress in the fight against corruption and I think this was proved by actions and decisions”, Maior said in a show broadcast by evz.ro and B1TV.
He added that he had not noticed any broken rhythm in the fight against corruption since the signing of the cohabitation pact between the president and the premier.
